Luxury Travel Advisor - December 2008 - (Page 32) THE ASTORIA SUITE (above) is painted in vibrant green and gold. AN EXECUTIVE DELUXE BATHROOM (this photo) is finished in marble and features a Roman tub. The bedroom has hand-painted silk screens of floral motifs and birds—a really charming detail and one that gives the suite a touch of 19th-century décor. On the modern side, the suite still boasts high-tech touches, such as a state-of-the-art, flat-screen AD Norton TV installed as part of the bathroom wall mirror. For pampering at the Remede Spa—the first of its kind in the Asia-Pacific region—the signature treatment is the Warm Stone Jade Massage. We always say that an outstanding massage therapist can ascend to being a healer, and Mon, the spa’s jade stone therapist, falls into that category. We can definitely recommend her to your clients. Note: Advise your VIPs to arrive at the spa at least an hour early so they can enjoy a variety of features, including the Finnish Sauna, Ice Fountain and Eucalyptus Scented Steam Chambers. What to expect: Your VIPs will start this indulgence with the dry heat, move to the bracing ice fountain then finish in the steam chamber. We say this is a great prelude to a massage treatment. Note: All of the spa’s treatments can be customized. The spa manager is Femme Findlay (femme.findlay@stregis. com; 011-65-6506-6788), who can handle advance reservations for your clients. After a day spent at the spa, famished clients can head to one of the hotel’s three restaurants. LaBrezza is a terrace restaurant serving Mediterranean cuisine; Yan Ting, the hotel’s finedining restaurant, serves Cantonese cuisine, and Brasserie les Saveurs, a light and airy French restaurant, looks out over the pool. Tables can be reserved in advance at Brasserie les Saveurs. If your clients would like unobstructed views of the pool, fountains and sculpture, suggest they reserve table Nos. 1-14. Hint: If they’d like an intimate table, reserve one of the alcove tables, No. 88 or 89. Contact the hotel’s dining agents (011-65-65066866) for more information and reservations. The hotel has six senior concierge members who hold the prestigious Les Clef d’Or of Singapore. The head concierge is Ian Tan (ian.tan@stregis.com). The property also has its own fleet of customized Bentleys, which can provide VIPs access to the private JetQuay CIP Terminal at Changi International Airport. Here, they’ll receive personalized service that includes check-in, immigration and baggage clearance. Of Note: The hotel has the only ballroom with skylights in Singapore, fixing that dreaded claustrophobic feeling that can afflict huge functions. The general manager is Yngvar Stray; however, luxury travel advisors should reach out to Ashley Hanson (ashley.hanson@ stregis.com), the hotel’s director of sales and marketing. —Mark Rogers 32 LUXURY TRAVEL ADVISOR | December 2008
