On the contrary, the hotel is only a short walk from Bucharest’s historic center and the Romanian capital’s main business, shopping, cultural and tourist attractions. But given the wealth of amenities and choice accommodations, guests will find leaving the hotel difficult. The 19th-century landmark building offers 20 intimate rooms and suites reminiscent of the style and life of early 1900s Romania. Each room is uniquely decorated with exquisite furniture and upholstered in fine fabrics, while elegant bathrooms provide a full line of Bulgari products. Several rooms and spaces also have stone-carved wood-burning fireplaces, and in-room massage service is available upon request. In addition, six exclusive rooms and suites offer private terraces with sitting areas in a garden-like environment, perfect for the utmost in privacy. What’s more, 14 of the units have the most stunning views overlooking the entire city. Guests will be swept away upon entering the hotel lobby, which is dominated by a 46-foothigh Murano crystal chandelier, designed especially for Carol Parc Hotel and inspired by Brancusi’s famous “The Column of the Infinite.” Other dazzling features include 19th-century paintings, Chinese porcelains, libraries and ubiquitous fresh flower bouquets. Guests can enjoy meals in the refined and elegant Poem Restaurant with its wood-burning fireplace and white linens offset by deep richly colored walls. After dinner, patrons can enjoy a nightcap in the Piano Club which provides comfortable chairs, sofas and a library containing an antique collection of tomes. Guests also have access to the smaller Belvedere Tower Bar, which is reserved only for those staying at the hotel. THE POEM RESTAURANT (shown here) is decadent dining at its best; rooms (right) are regally appointed with a host of haute amenities; the hotel’s entrance (below right) conceals an exquisite hanging Murano crystal chandelier just beyond the front door in the lobby. Rooms have stunning views overlooking the city (above right). 190 PREMIER HOTELS & RESORTS | Winter/Spring 2009 http://www.carolparchotel.ro
