Premier Hotels & Resorts - Winter/Spring 2009 - (Page 24) London ENGLAND Brown’s Hotel Merely steps away from fashionable Bond Street, the buzzing West End theaters and the tranquility of Green Park, Rocco Forte’s Brown’s Hotel boasts London’s premier address. Following the recent $48 million transformation, Brown’s Hotel has restored itself to its rightful place as one of London’s most historic, grand dame hotels. The hotel opened in 1837 to offer the most sophisticated accommodations for society’s elite. Today, without compromising the best of its original finishes, the hotel is a brilliant mix of contemporary style and unparalleled service. The property consists of 11 Georgian townhouses, and every guest room and suite is styled in refined English charm and includes broadband Internet access, flat-screen LCD televisions and iPod docking stations. Original artworks adorn the walls of each room and an array of books are available for guests to peruse, helping to give each room a home-away-from-home feel. The Presidential and Royal suites, ranging from 850 to 1,000 square feet, feature fireplaces and views of the neighboring area. The Mansard rooms, on the top floor, are comprised of elegant timber floors, banquettes at the windows and, for a trip back in time, photographs of well-known politicians and writers who have a link to the hotel.
