The Riad Hotel, Dar Ayniwen offers guests a quaint yet luxurious Moroccan getaway. This little jewel was initially built as the villa-riad owner’s family home, but nine years ago the sevenbedroom residence was turned into a luxurious guesthouse. Dar Ayniwen sits at the heart of the Marrakech palm grove, locally called “the Palmeraie,” which allows for awe-inspiring views of the snow-covered Atlas Mountains. Guests can also take in the soothing aromas of the alluring garden, which is filled with palm trees, Seville orange trees, lemon trees and jasmine. Inside the hotel, the calming atmosphere is continued with Marrakech period furniture, exotic oriental paintings and antique carpets. The guest rooms, which include seven en-suite rooms and a lone-standing Pavillon suite, each with ’20sstyle bathroom fittings, all face south and open onto the breathtaking gardens and swimming pool, with private hot tubs and a private garden available in three suites. Upstairs, the rooms offer guests a panoramic view of the grounds and the Atlas Mountains. The Galaxy Suite comes with two terraces—the private one is great for gazing at the stars while sipping cocktails. THE HOTEL has a lush and open garden area (top). Each room is draped in oriental prints and decorated with silken cushions (above right). Three of the guest rooms have a private hot tub (right). Stop in for a meal at the hotel’s luxurious restaurant (far right). 312 PREMIER HOTELS & RESORTS | Winter/Spring 2009 http://www.dar-ayniwen.com
