Silk Road is a modern trans-ethnic restaurant with a focus on organic local food products. The Silk Road bar and the main dining room offer views of CityCenter and the main porte-cochere. These will definitely be the see-and-be seen spots in the restaurant, although you can also book one of the booths or the private dining room. Bar Vdara will be an eclectic lobby lounge that connects to an intimate outdoor garden space where guests can relax on swings next to a curved reflecting pool. Vdara will also have a Sky Pool & Lounge and 10,000 square feet of conference space. Once Vdara opens, your clients can expect rates ranging from $159 to $2,000. Reservations can be made for October 1 and beyond by contacting Mary Kate Butta, leisure sales manager (866-745-7759, mbutta@vdara.com). I CITYCENTER RECENTLY BEGAN ACCEPTING applications at www. citycentercareers.com to fill more than 12,000 jobs. This marks the largest single new employment opportunity currently offered by any corporation in the U.S. and is a welcome addition to the local Las Vegas economy. The venture is offering opportunities in a variety of categories, including food and beverage, hotel operations, casino operations, retail management, entertainment, finance, human resources, facilities and security. But while many of CityCenter’s projects are going great guns, some projects have been postponed or canceled. Last month, CityCenter Holdings LLC, a joint venture between MGM MIRAGE and Infinity World Development Corp., announced a postponement of the opening of the Harmon Hotel & Spa to late 2010 and that it will cancel the Harmon residential condominium component. The Harmon, as developed, would have had approximately 200 residential units, of which 88 are under contract to be sold. Purchasers will be entitled to receive refunds of their deposits or be given the opportunity to purchase units at the Residences at Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas, Vdara and Veer Towers. Construction at the Harmon will continue through completion of the structure and exterior, with interior fit-out to be deferred. “We have full confidence in the long-term future of the Las Vegas market and the success of CityCenter,” says Chris O’Donnell, CEO of Infinity World Development. “This is an appropriate action in the current circumstances.” Visit www.citycenter.com. 22 | TravelAgent March 30, 2009 Interested?
