TravelAgent I f you sell Mexico, the Caribbean, or Canada, you’ve probably spent a little less time recommending destinations to clients and a little more talking about passports. Qualifying clients most likely has involved a little more passport discussion than you had been used to before the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) requirements for air travel took effect on January 23, 2007. When WHTI, commonly known as the passport restrictions, were relaxed at the beginning of the summer due to a backlog of applications, confusion about the rules probably doubled and clients’ questions regarding passports most likely tripled. We won’t be able to answer all questions for every scenario involving passports since our magazine—or any publication for that matter—is simply August 6, 2007
