Bermuda Waiting period: File a “Notice of Intended Marriage” with the Register General; The Registrar General may issue a license 15 days from the receipt of the “Notice of Intended Marriage.” The license is valid for three month’s from the date of issue. Fees: US$221 plus US$22 (for the marriage certificate) in the form of a cashier’s check or draft. Caribbean Marriage Regulations & Fees regulations and fees are subject to change and should be confirmed in advance of travel with the destination’s tourist board. Cayman Islands Travel agents need to know the non-resident marriage requirements for any destination wedding taking place out of the country. Key things such as waiting periods at the locale are important in planning the itinerary for the event. Provide a checklist of required documents for the couple to take with them. In the Caribbean, requirements differ by island, but some documents and procedures are standard throughout the region, such as: I Valid legal identification (passport is best; many islands accept or also require driver’s license/state-issued ID + birth certificate). I Proof of divorce (deed poll or name certificate where necessary) or death certificate (original or certified copies) where applicable. I Documented parental consent if either party is under 18 years of age (21 in some cases). I Most islands require two adult witnesses. Following is just a small sampling of some of typical marriage requirements and fees. Rules, Waiting period: Can marry on arrival day, including those arriving by ship. Additional documents: Non-resident’s marriage license from the Deputy Chief Secretary’s Office; Cayman Islands Immigration Department pink entry slips, or Cayman Islands international embarkation/disembarkation card for cruise ship passengers; letter from the authorized Marriage Officer who is to officiate. Fee: US$200. Antigua & Barbuda Waiting period: None Fees: US$240 includes marriage license, marriage officer fees and registration fee. Dominican Republic Waiting period: None Additional documents: After the ceremony, a marriage certificate must be requested from the local Justice of the Peace. This usually takes a day or two. Fees: Couples must register with the City Clerk; US$125. Bahamas Waiting period: 1 day Additional documents: Declarations certifying both parties are unmarried U.S. citizens sworn before a U.S. Consul at the American Embassy in Nassau or a Bahamas notary public (cost US$30 each); Proof of arrival in the Bahamas. Fees: US$100 for the marriage license application and US$25 for the marriage certificate . Grenada Waiting period: 3 days minimum Special requirements: Affidavit of parental consent required if under the age of 21. Fees: US$12 covers license and registration search fees and necessary stamp duties. RIVIERA MAYA MARRIAGE REQUIREMENTS I I I I I Birth certificates (or legalized copies) and passports of both partners. Blood tests taken within 15 days prior to wedding. Sometimes tests need to be taken in Mexico, or certified by a Mexican physician. Copy of visa or immigration form (FMT) Four witnesses. Some cities require four Mexican people, while others accept foreigners as witnesses. All civil registration offices have a witness service (fee). To fulfill the requirements listed above, it is recommended to arrive in Mexico 2-4 days before the ceremony, unless a wedding service has been hired beforehand. Jamaica Waiting period: 24 hours Additional documents: Apply and receive a marriage certificate from the Ministry of National Security. Fees: Approximately US$75-US$80; There are non-denominational Marriage Officers (fees: US$50 to US$250) who can officiate either in their offices, their homes or a place chosen by the couple, and can provide witnesses. Previously married couples: If one of the partners having got divorced or become a widow, they have to show proof that a year has passed since this has happened. For divorced partners, final sentence of dissolution of marriage is required; certified copies are accepted. Widow/ widower must present death certificate (or copy thereeof) of previous partner .
