Travel Agent - November 10, 2008 - (Page 54) DESTINATIONS WET pedicure station at Treasure Island things about this 125-minute service that uses various elements. While men are treated to a relaxing stone massage, stress-melting facial and sports manicure and pedicure, women receive an intoxicating aromatherapy massage, custom facial and spa manicure and pedicure. WET—The Spa & Salon is open Sunday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. For rates or to book an appointment, call 702894-7472. Find more information at www. wetspati.com. Canyon Ranch at The Venetian and The Palazzo This might just be the largest spa in town. The Canyon Ranch SpaClub is so big it even has its own restaurant overseen by Wolfgang Puck. On the pool level belonging to both The Venetian (www.venetian.com) and The Palazzo (www.palazzolasvegas.com), it’s easily accessible from the guest elevators. But for those not wanting to visit this 134,000-square-foot facility, spa decadence can be enjoyed in the comfort of their suite. Canyon Ranch offers everything from insuite massages, private Pilates instruction and yoga lessons to in-suite hair, makeup and pedicures. This is great for women getting prepared for special events. They’ll even send a certified fitness instructor to get you into shape in the privacy of your own room. Canyon Ranch was one of the originators of the spa movement when it was founded in 1979. It opened here in 1999, along with The Venetian. The SpaClub features all the standard amenities and some unique ones, such as a 40foot indoor rock-climbing wall and Aquavana, a European-inspired suite of thermal spa cabins, experiential showers, cold rooms and aquathermal bathing experiences. There’s even a lounge serving specialty cocktails featuring organic spirits and beers and organic, biodynamic or sustainable wines. Canyon Ranch SpaClub is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. More information is available by calling 877-220-2688 or by visiting either of the resorts’ websites. —GLENN HAUSSMAN CONTINUED FROM PAGE 50 activities in the guest rooms. (And when the new Encore makes its debut later this year, inroom spa services will be offered there as well.) Guests at Wynn Las Vegas enjoy such salon offerings as makeup application, haircutting and styling, manicures, pedicures and a variety of massages. Favorite options include Swedish or deep-tissue massages for either 60 or 90 minutes. Guests in the hotel’s Salon Suites and Fairway Villas have en-suite massage rooms. At Wynn, there’s no worry about traipsing through the lobby to get to the spa; all guest elevators stop on the spa level, which makes that bathrobe walk a little less stressful. The Wynn Las Vegas spa is open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. For more information, call 702770-3900 or visit the spa online. Probably the coolest room here is the Arctic Ice Room. Snow actually falls from the ceiling as spa-goers move about inside. It’s an odd experience, but a whole lot of fun. It’s really one of those surreal, can’t-be-missed opportunities. Don’t panic, though—heated floors and benches keep you warm even as your body gets used to the crisp 55-degree room. In addition to all this, another interesting aspect of the spa is the Qua Crystal Body Art Room where they’ll give patrons temporary body art. It’s a fun and sexy way to get ready for a night on the town. Qua Baths & Spa is open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. For more information, call 866-782-0655 or find the spa online at www.harrahs.com/qua. WET at Treasure Island At Treasure Island (www.treasureisland.com), your clients can enjoy WET—The Spa & Salon. With water themes throughout, this is a great place to get signature treatments without having to worry about walking all over the resort. Here, guests will find water-based signature services such as the WET Signature Wrap. This treatment uses warm sea water to restore key minerals and reduce fatigue, stress and low energy while the WET Aromatic Seaweed Bath is enriched with three types of seaweed vitamins and minerals to eliminate toxicity, nourish the skin and smooth cellulite. Couples might want to try the Venus & Mars experience. Although we didn’t get a chance to do this ourselves, we have heard really good Caesars Palace Spa enthusiasts will want to be sure to stay in the three-year-old Augustus Tower at Caesars Palace (www.harrahs.com), which houses the Qua Baths & Spa on the second floor. Also in this tower are the Roman Baths, which seem to awaken the spirit of Caesar himself with a modern take on the ancient ritual bath. Visiting guests will enjoy hot and cold plunge pools, a circular rain shower to rinse off and bodysculpted chaise lounges—perfect after a cold pool plunge because they are heated from the inside. And for an extra toasty experience, a robe sauna heats robes while guests swim. 54 | TravelAgent November 10, 2008 CONNECTING YOU Sending clients to Sin City?
