Early in his career when Ric started at Coast to Coast Hardware he realized he had a passion for retail. Moving from the nuts and bolts of hardware, he joined Best Buy. Ric was the key driver in the development of the Best Buy circular including versioning, digital and all of the creativity and innovation seen over the years. After 13 years in Minneapolis, he did consulting for El Dorado, Moscow’s leading electronic retailer. He returned to the US and took his current job, Divisional VP of Marketing Promotion and Production for Sears Holdings Corporation. While his contributions to the industry have been many, his contributions to RAMA have been mighty. He joined the RAMA Board of Directors seven years ago and has been extremely active in many areas. Ric first stepped up as the RAC Awards Chairman for two years. During that time he transformed the competition and the actual Awards Evening. He introduced the live vote system, established a new 4Q judging, he set up a competition for the RACie trophy design and then helped create a forum to name it — RACie, Retail Award for Creativity, innovation and excellence. After a two-year term he was voted by his peers to become the First Vice Chairman of RAMA and then became the Chairman from 2005-2007. As Chairman he helped champion the Action Taker Series and Randy Curtis Award for students as part of the series. He helped put in new structure for the board and contributed to the development of the CMO Summit. Beyond the office, if you ask people about Ric they are quick to say what a tremendous person he is to his friends and family. RAMA is proud to welcome Ric to the Hall of Fame! 6
