Mailing Systems Technology - February 2008 - (Page 6) PUBLISHER Ron Brent Editor’s Note BY DAN O’ROURKE Dan O’Rourke, CMM dan.o@rbpub.com EDITOR MANAGING EDITOR Erin Eagan erin.e@rbpub.com Vera Angelico, Kevin Conti, Mark Fallon, John Grogan, Shoshana Grove, Mike Maselli, Jeff McKenzie, Kate Muth, Mike Porter Rachel Spahr rachel@rbpub.com CONTRIBUTING WRITERS Check Out What We Have Done The pace of developments affecting managers in the mailing industry is getting a bit dizzying. It’s not as if there isn’t enough to do just keeping up with daily mail center operations; now we must adapt to expanding communication avenues driven by “e” communications, the rapidly escalating environmental concerns and their impact on mail and a reshaped “competitive” U.S. Postal Service and its new Intelligent Mail Barcode, just to name a few. With more developments, you need to receive more information through more avenues to stay on pace. This past fall, Mailing Systems Technology produced its first face-to-face Roundtable in Chicago, which exceeded our expectations. We want to continue to provide you with a venue to network, learn and discuss the latest issues and trends, so we’re going a step further. The Mailing Systems Technology Roundtable will become a full mailing track at our sister publication’s event, the DOCUMENT Strategy Forum, September 10-12 in Chicago. Additionally, in partnership with another sister publication, PARCEL, as well as the U.S. Postal Service and Endicia, we have just completed our first Virtual Roundtable or webcast — “The New Law and How It Will Affect the Industry,” with guest speaker James Cochrane, Manager, Package Services at the U.S. Postal Service. With these successful events behind us, we are gearing up for our next Mailing Systems Technology Virtual Roundtable, “Making Intelligent Decisions for Your IMB Strategy,” on Tuesday, March 18 at 2:00 PM (Eastern). In conjunction with Pitney Bowes, the webcast will cover the many requirements Intelligent Mail Barcode brings to preparing mail — especially automated mail (if you want those discounts, you better be IMB savvy). Visit our website to sign up; and once registered, you can submit questions prior to the webcast. And… with this issue, we introduce our digital version of Mailing Systems Technology, which lets you bookmark, email articles and link directly to websites mentioned in the magazine. We also have the ability to inform you through our website, e-newsletters and email news announcements, such as the story we broke on the carrier industry last month. Yes, Mailing Systems Technology newsletter subscribers heard about it from us even before the Wall Street Journal came out with the story a couple of days later. All in all, we have developed a multi-media approach to get you information — any way you want. Now what we need to be assured of is that you are receiving news and technology developments in whichever formats suit you best. If you have not yet subscribed to our “e” media, please go to our website today and sign up for our e-newsletter, sign up for the digital version (you can get print and digital), register for a webcast or conference and renew your subscription. We understand you need alternatives — and we’ve got ’em. As always, thanks for reading our favorite — the printed and mailed version of Mailing Systems Technology.
