Mailing Systems Technology - November/December 2008 - (Page 34) PRODUCT APPLICATION BCC SOFTWARE BCC Data Services Strive to Make Every Mailpiece Count There’s no denying that the new USPS Move Update requirements for First-Class and Standard Mail have had mailers scrambling to choose an address-correction method to assure continued automation discounts for their mailing jobs. By now, every mailer has had to adopt some form of address-correction process, but some professionals are no doubt realizing their initial Move Update solution is falling short and costing a lot more than they expected. Fortunately, there are still options that offer affordable, efficient and proactive results. Unlike post-mailing Move Update options — ACS, OneCode ACS and ancillary service endorsements — NCOALINK technology is a true pre-mailing resource that not only gives each mailpiece its best shot at reaching its intended destination, but enables the client to enjoy even earlier benefits in the form of right-sized print runs and reduced postage waste. One non-exclusive USPS NCOALINK licensee has taken a comprehensive approach to their service obligation to customers. BCC Software’s Data Services division offers an array of Move Update tools that take address-correction value an important step further. The company is licensed for two levels of NCOALINK processing: Full Service Provider, which updates submitted records based on 48 months of moves recorded in the USPS Change-of-Address (COA) database; and Limited Service Provider, which delivers 18 months of COA data plus ANKLINK processing to determine when the more in-depth 48-month service may be beneficial. BCC developers have worked to make the address-correction workflow seamless: thanks to full integration within the company’s Mail Manager 2010, LE or Full Service mail-preparation software packages, the start-to-finish Move Update process can be painlessly managed without exiting the source program used to manage the original mailing. BCC customers are freed of the burden of tediously exporting lists, uploading them to a Data Services provider and re-importing the updated files back into their software. Mail Manager software programs can be set up to watch for and automatically retrieve job files once they are completed. All files are processed same day, with smaller files processed in a manner of minutes, to ensure little to no disruption in the mailing workflow. These days, however, a full slate of available services is not enough. The increasingly complex web of postal requirements often leaves compliance-minded mailers struggling to do the right thing. With that in mind, BCC has installed a dedicated customer support team to offer unlimited live technical assistance exclusively on matters related to Move Update processing. (This is in addition to the company’s regular Customer Support personnel, who specialize in software and industry issues.) A separate toll-free number and extended support hours ensure that when clients have addresscorrection changes, a BCC representative will be available with answers. Perhaps most importantly, BCC has established a broad pricing structure for its Data Services that is intended to fit the budgets of mailers of all sizes and specialties. Prepaid discount pricing, pay-as-you-go rates and unlimited service pricing for LSP and FSP Unlimited are all available to Data Services users, enabling a number of choices for easy budgeting and fast returns on investment. With the November 2008 Move Update rules now a reality, mailers are beginning to adjust to the new realities of 21st century address correction. Part of that adjustment now involves an assessment of whether their current Move Update choices are helping or damaging their bottom line. Every mailing job deserves access to the best Move Update resources that will ensure USPS compliance and the most effective and economical delivery. For BCC customers, at least, a forward-thinking approach to Data Services is providing seamless address-correction protection — and invaluable peace of mind.
