Parcel - November 2008 - (Page 32) products & services AESAssure As of September 30, 2008 companies exporting from the US have been required to file their Shippers Export Declaration (SED) electronically. But this does not have to be a challenge for your company. AESAssure from Precision Software not only brings you into compliance, it will also make your parcel shipping operation more productive. AESAssure is fully integrated with your ERP system and other compliance content and will: • Predetermine filing and licensing requirements • Eliminate manual form preparation • Automatically calculate commodity code values • Validate your data against AES specifications and provide error alerts • File the document through the official AES portal and when accepted, reference the tracking number (ITN) on all the export documents for that shipment. AESAssure does much more than keep you in compliance — it will save you time, money, and improve the level of service to your customers. www.precisionsoftware.com HC AUTOFLOW UNIT Pregis Corp. has taken high-speed hybrid cushioning “HC” to a new level with the launch of its HC AutoFlow unit. The new machine is an accessory to Pregis’ previously-launched AirSpeed HC system. The HC AutoFlow is designed to automatically separate (at the perforation) the hybrid cushioning material created by the AirSpeed HC and place it into a bin (or directly into the shipping carton) for easy dispensing. This eliminates the need for an operator to perform a repetitive motion task. Further, the removal of the manual step assists in reaching higher targeted packing speeds. It improves material management and delivery by ensuring that the length of cushioning that is dispensed is no longer a random decision made by an operator. Desired lengths are pre-calculated and programmed into the unit. In addition to the efficiency and labor improvements, companies are better able to manage their material costs. Hybrid cushioning differs from traditional void-fill pillows because it features multiple air chambers in a horizontal and vertical pattern vs. one cushion. Flat, perforated rollstock is mounted onto the AirSpeed unit, which creates the rows of small air-filled pockets as the air is transferred between the individual chambers. Three different cell heights are available: small (¾-inch), medium (1-inch) and large (1¼ inches). The unit also provides an additional benefit compared to competitive systems which tend to cut through the pillow rows losing multiple chambers in the process. www.pregis.com Autobag Tabletop Bagging System Automated Packaging Systems has introduced the Autobag PaceSetter PS 125 OneStep Tabletop Bagging System. This compact, all-electric bagger eliminates the need for a pneumatic connection and is ideal for mail order fulfillment operations that require inline printing and frequent changeovers between products. The PS 125 OneStep offers best-in-class performance for low- to medium-volume hand load operations and is capable of bagging at speeds up to 25 bags per minute. The PS 125 tabletop system can operate in three cycling modes: manual Push-to-Seal, foot switch and fully automatic. Loaded bags are automatically heat sealed and a new, pre-opened bag is indexed with each cycle. An integrated printer with 200 dpi resolution will print product information, barcodes and custom graphics directly onto the bag just before it is filled and sealed. This bagger uses genuine Autobag pre-opened bags-on-a-roll in sizes from 2 to 10.5 inches wide and 4 to 17 inches long. www.autobag.com Reach Truck Attachments Hyster Company offers the fork laser and the fork camera, two attachment options for the Hyster ZR Reach truck.
