BY LOUIS STACK Society today is generally heading toward a very dangerous direction. People of all ages sit on their way to and from work or school, they sit facing their computers for hours on end, and when a day is done, most of us will have sat for six to 10 hours! Then we hope to find time for exercise, family, rest and down time. The reality is that “reviving the 9 to 5” is the best opportunity we have to shift the paradigm from an eight-hour daily health liability to an eight-hour daily health benefit. If we can simply find ways to include the seven primal patterns of movement into our clients’ “9 to 5,” then when we do get exercise or do weekend sports for health and wellness, we will know how to engage our cores and stabilize our trunks so we perform better and have a lower risk of injury. ➤ Fitter International Inc. Headquarters in Calgary. LEADING THE WORLD TO BETTER BALANCE We have promoted balance maintenance for 23 years. Athletes used to use our products for rehab and then learned that the same products are good for “prehab” as well. This helped them prevent injury. Now, 23 years later, these same middle-aged baby-boomers simply want to be pain-free, mobile and active. Balance boards, balls and active sitting products like Swopper and Pro Active Discs used in the workplace throughout the day is the easiest way to help maintain mobility and help your clients age gracefully. Lost mobility is hard to get back, and as we age, the slope gets more slippery. The key is to set up your daily environment so that it is at least neutral to maintaining balance and mobility and, preferably, an asset to your health. Trainers should encourage clients to incorporate balance and mobility products into their workplace so the clients’ money-earning environment is not a health-burning one. If you leave the office with a strong core and trunk and with good balance each day, then you do not have to focus on these issues in the gym. Trainers’ clients get far better visual results if the first few months do not have to be spent on learning how to engage your core/ trunk/inner unit before you really start the exercise program. FUNCTIONAL TRAINING AT ITS BEST Our entire office is a working example of how to mix up the workplace so that you and your staff remain engaged and alert throughout the workday. Schools buy many products from us to enhance the kids’ experience. An active, alert body is an active, alert mind! Fitterfirst has developed and selected only the highest quality FUNctional products for your FUNctional training needs. Our products are uniquely suited to help you strengthen your core and improve your balance like no other collection you’ll find. Consider including some of these products in your and your clients’ daily work environment to gain the benefits of a strong, balanced body that is better equipped to age gracefully! All our products are constructed of the highest quality and proven to help you and your clients in ways your body may have long forgotten are important.
