Personal Fitness Professional - January/February 2009 - (Page 7) [ LETTER [EDITOR] Shelby Murphy shelby.m@rbpub.com FROM THE EDITOR ] AHH JANUARY. A time of renewal, try-agains and fresh starts. With the crisp air and snow-blanketed ground comes the feeling of clean slate — which isn’t altogether bad for our industry. In fact, it’s what we bank on. However, those of us who understand growth know that progress isn’t about ignoring the past but, rather, learning from it as we move forward. There is no clean start — just lesser choices made good this time around or good choices made better! This month marks a moment of great strides forward for PFP. First, you’ll notice our print and digital magazine has added brand new material. Industry legend Phil Kaplan is now writing a column entitled “Be Better.” We’re extremely fortunate to have his often-imitated-but-never-duplicated ideas within our covers. Also, you’ll notice the shift on our cover and in my new feature, Journey to Success. Both feature recognizable industry professionals working their way to the pinnacle of their careers. We believe you’ll find clues to your success from reading about theirs. The digital magazine also features several exclusive articles not available in print — go to www.fit-pro.com/digimag to view! Next, check out our website. Coming in 2009, we’ll feature three columnists writing to the different trainer markets as well as a video column from yours truly. And on the E-News side, the Functionally Fit column offers innovative exercises from physical therapist/personal trainer guru Brian Schiff, and my new Training Wheels column will give you a little help to keep on course! We hope you’ll like our improvements. They mark our resolution to be your primary source for prosperity in your fitness career. And if you want to reduce paper waste, pollution and receive PFP days before print, switch your subscription to digital-only (visit www.fit-pro.com/digitalonly). Here’s to an amazing new year!
