Analyzing and addressing the improvement opportunities will be done specifically for each plant using a combination of Process Reliability Charts, OEE data, and the Business Level FMEA also described above. The potential for the business is an additional $180M in gross profit contribution with minimal additional capital, e.g., $20-40M per year in sustenance and improvement capital. The investment required is likely in the range of $2-3M per year in both internal and external resources to facilitate the analysis and the implementation of the improvement process. A native of Terre Haute, Indiana, Schultz now lives in Charleston, South Carolina with his wife and two children. With over 22 years experience in safety and occupational health, business consulting, engineering and manufacturing, José L. Wilkins, Senior Technical Advisor at Allied Reliability, Inc, is recognized as an expert in finding “hidden capacity” in manufacturing facilities and improving efficiencies in process and operations management. He has developed an improvement method that uses non-traditional statistics to characterize both safety injury performance and operational performance in production facilities which has quantified billions in savings. His expertise lies in using the basic foundation of six sigma methods to drive improvements in process optimization, engineering management, operations management, systems development and process and reliability modeling. This approach has been applied across small businesses to large corporations in the manufacturing sector. He has held positions in operations and maintenance management, process and product development, various segments of engineering and consulting. His former employers have included DuPont, and Shell Pipeline.
