Hank is survived by wife Rita, daughter and son-in-law Cary and Gary Scottoline, son and daughter-in-law Robert and Barbara Bangser, grandsons Matthew, Peter, and Jason, and granddaughter Rachel, and by his brother William (Bill) Bangser ’44. Henry Bangser was pre-deceased in 2009 by his son Alan. Alan J. Goldman ’49 Goldman’s Yarn Stores Owner Alan J. Goldman ’49 of White Plains, NY died on Feb. 16, 2010 at age 77. He was the owner of Goldman’s Yarn Stores of Westchester, the Bronx and Brooklyn, a retail chain founded by his father and a favorite destination for customers for generations. He is survived by Phyllis Goldman, his wife of 52 years, daughter Terri Shapiro, sons Bruce and Michael Goldman, daughters-in-law Linda and Karen and son-in-law Rob, and seven grandchildren, and by his brother and sister-in-law Elliot and Jill Goldman. graduate of Boston University Akselrod turned his love of stamp collecting into a profession when he worked as a stamp appraiser. He later founded a specialty foods importing business. While in the Army he joined the Free Masons, and was very active in the NYC branch, serving as District Deputy Grand Master of the 10th Manhattan District 1998-2000. He also served as Grand High Priest of the Constitution Chapter of Royal Arch Masons. After retiring, he worked as the Secretary of the Scottish Rite in Manhattan and as an editor for the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons in New York City. He loved to travel, golf, dance, and vacation in Maine. He is survived by his domestic partner of 19 years, Barbara Shelley, two nieces and a nephew. Richard Lipsett ’54 Lighting Designer and Book Editor Richard Lipsett ’54 died June 5, 2010 at age 73 at the Village Crest Nursing Center in New Milford, CT. Horace Mann School expresses condolences. A graduate of Columbia University he was a lighting designer for Ellis Rabb’s A.P.A. repertory theater on Broadway and had an encyclopedic knowledge of theater and musicals. Lipsett later became a book editor.
