The Shasta Cascade Wonderland Association, in cooperation with the United States Forest Service, has created a brochure that breaks the area’s scenic byways down into distance, minimum driving time, best time to go, what to see along the way, and services along the route. One of only two All American Roads in California–the Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway–is located right in Redding’s backyard! Off-roading is also popular here, and there are a number of scenic trails that will challenge your vehicle’s 4-wheel drive, leaving your car dusty but not scratched.
