monitorTHIS! - February 2009 - (Page 17) X-Blades X360, PS3, PC [SouthPeak] OK, half-naked, Ginsu knife-pistol wielding chicks rock our socks. In X-Blades, thong-wearing Ayumi goes bat-crazy battling throngs of baddies. Fans of Devil May Cry and Tomb Raider will find enough titular action to sate both shooting and slashing appetites. While X-Blades lacks depth or semblance of story, Ayumi’s violent and hot enough to make up for it. Rated M for Mature. Obviously. In Stores February 10 Resident Evil 5 X360, PS3 [CaPCom] Announced back in 2005, Resident Evil 5 takes place 10 years after the first Resident Evil game. If an extremity is injured, they’ll limp. If they’re on fire, foes will try to extinguish themselves either by rolling around or jumping in water. The AI acts differently every time. The world design also changed. Much of Project Origin is still closequarters combat, but the inclusion of wide-open cityscapes and other scenarios (schools, nuclear power plants) makes single-player riveting, as strategy changes with locales. The element of surprise, however, is a constant. Monolith wants players to feel uncomfortable. Multi-player received a major upgrade as well. There are six maps that support up to 16 players. To date, only three modes (Armored Front, Blitz and Failsafe) have been revealed. In Armored Front, a Conquest derivative, Monolith enables players to activate Elite Powered Armour units. Uh, mech warfare in a FPS? Amazing! We’re trembling. You should be, too. F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin will hit stores in February for PS3, X360 and PC.
