Vultures circling aboVe what’s left of Bonita Springs, Fla.-based WCI Communities are not likely to go away, but there’s still a little life in the old condo-tower builder. A bankruptcy judge has authorized WCI, which filed for Chapter 11 protection last month, to enter into a $150 million debtor-inpossession financing agreement. The firm also received permission to use the cash collateral it has, which amounts to $68 million. The debtor-in-possession agreement includes an $80 million term loan and a $70 million revolving credit line. That gives WCI access to more than $100 million of additional liquidity to continue operating while developing a restructuring plan. Some $50 million of the DIP money must go to retire an existing credit line. This is more life than a lot of building industry professionals expected to see.
