The 175th Spring Technical Meeting will be held on May 4-6, 2009 in Akron, OH. The program will consist of invited eminent speakers and award winners on areas pertaining to advances in science and technology of rubber and rubber-related products. The Rubber Expo™ & 176th Technical Meeting of the Rubber Division, ACS is scheduled for Oct. 13-15, 2009 in Pittsburgh, PA. This meeting will include equipment exhibits and 12 symposia covering tire technology, polymers, rubber chemicals, mixing, curing and testing of rubber, biomedical materials and applications and several sessions on contributed papers. Since 2009 is the Division’s Centennial Celebration Year, celebrating 100 years as the Rubber Division, ACS, the symposia will consist of papers presented under the theme, “Past, Present & Future of the Rubber Industry,” featuring the following topics: • Synthetic Rubber & Synthetic Rubber Based Products; • Natural Rubber & Natural Rubber Based Products; • Science of Rubber Vulcanization and Stabilization; • Mixing and Processing of Rubber; • Filler Reinforcement; • Rubber Testing and Quality Control; • Tire Technology; • Thermoplastic Elastomers; • Rubber Recycling; • Automotive and Engineered Products; • New Commercial Developments; and • Contributed Papers. Rubber Division Modifies Paper Submissions The Rubber Division, ACS is excited to announce that, beginning with the 175th Technical Meeting & 4th Rubber Modified Asphalt Conference in Akron, OH, speakers will now be able to submit abstracts, powerpoint presentations, biographies, photos and any additional materials required via a new, Online Paper Submission Program, accessible through the Rubber Divsision, ACS website, www.rubber. org. “We have long awaited this new program and are very anxious to see its implementation,” said Linda McClure, membership and technical program manager. Speakers will be automatically notified via email when critical deadlines are approaching. Interested speakers for the 2009 Fall Technical Meeting can look for the 2009 Call for Papers for Pittsburgh, PA on the Rubber Division, ACS website, www.rubber.org, early in December.
