t’s that time again: Grab your camera and head to a Missouri state park or historic site. Your photographs could win you prizes in the 2nd Annual Missouri Snapshots Photo Contest! Rural Missouri and Missouri State Parks have teamed up again to bring you the contest, which is open to all amateur photographers. This year’s contest includes ﬁve categories for adults and a new category, “Children in Nature,” reserved just for shutterbugs age 12 and younger. In all six categories, a ﬁrst-, secondand third-place photograph will be selected. Photographs will be judged on sharpness, composition, lighting, creativity and adherence to the category’s theme. The winning images will be published in the January 2013 issue of Rural Missouri. Good luck!

parks are blessed with an abundance of natural beauty: rolling prairies, rugged mountains and big rivers. Entries in this category should capture scenes worthy of a postcard.

1. Photos must have been taken at one of Missouri’s 85 state parks or historic sites. For a complete list, visit www.mostateparks.com. Photographs must depict activities that conform to Missouri State Parks rules and regulations. Photos depicting unauthorized activities will be disqualiﬁed. A photographer may enter no more than two photographs in any category (maximum of 10 entries for adults, two entries for kids). There is no cost to enter. All photographs must be entered as unmounted, 8-by-10-inch prints. Images may be color or black and white; photo manipulation beyond basic editing and toning is discouraged. Prints will not be returned.
Overnight Adventure – Whether in a tent, RV or cabin, Missouri’s state parks provide lots of options for “roughing it.” To win this category, show us how you have fun with family and friends when camping. Playing in the Parks — From ﬁshing and swimming to hiking and interpretive programs, there’s always something happening in Missouri’s state parks.
