SUGGESTED TIME FRAME: UP TO 1 HOUR

A ONE-MILE TRAIL LOOP that travels through
downtown Rutherfordton leading to the Bechtler House-
home to preserving the legacy of Christopher Bechtler. The
sidewalk trail is minted with commemorative $1 Bechtler
gold coin replicas donated by supporters of our rich history
in Rutherford County and easily viewed by visitors strolling
through our main streets.

HIKE THROUGH HISTORY A KID'S
WAY. This 0.5-mile walk takes you past
historic landmarks and features dating
back to the Revolutionary War. Walk
in the soldiers' footsteps, see where
the nation's first $1 gold coin was
minted, and meander through Civil War
gravesites.

SUGGESTED TIME FRAME: 2-4 HOURS

SWIM, SLIDE, PADDLE BOAT OR JUST ENJOY
THE SANDY BEACH. Lake Lure Beach has something for
everyone in the family. The area's only public beach access
is the perfect place to build sandcastles, play volleyball,
bring a picnic and play in the water. Two water slides and
water balloon wars are sure to boost everyone's adrenaline.
The beach is open Memorial Day through Labor Day.

SUGGESTED TIME FRAME: 1-3 HOURS

TRAIL RIDES, GEM MINING AND SCENIC VIEWS.
Riverside Riding Stables-Guided hourly trail rides and river
rides. Open for children (specialty rides for 2-6 year olds)
and adults. Plus overnight camping and fishing trips.
Cedar Creek Riding Stables-Three different trails through
creeks, woods and a mountain overlook, plus pony rides for
kids 8 years and under. Families can also partake in gem
mining, fishing and picnicking. There is even space to hold
a special event.
