SAE International is... responding to industry needs Commercial Vehicle In 2009, the commercial vehicle industry worked through the global recession by making rapid changes in production, downsizing staff, and implementing plans to remain profitable. Many of these same approaches may carry through 2010. To better serve the commercial vehicle industry, in 2009 SAE International: • Expanded its global footprint by collaborating with the industry to support its efforts in competing in the global market by providing platform(s) for collaboration of global teams to gain access to and share technical information in the 24/7 environment, increasing the number of SAE Fellows from the commercial vehicle sector, and providing industry benchmarking in an anonymous environment 8 2009 Annual Report • Built member and customer loyalty at both the individual and corporate levels by providing workforce development programs to help the industry do more with less and deal with a downsized workforce • Addressed and met the needs of the multiple niches within the sectors of on-highway, off-highway, and military/defense • Promoted the commercial vehicle industry through the various channels of SAE International’s full portfolio of programs, products and services
