Electronic Publishing SAE International took steps in 2010 to pave the way for publishing systems of the future. Chief among those steps was the implementation of a new online subscription publishing platform for technical papers and standards. The new platform allows customers to purchase the content packages that best meet their needs, both in terms of content and cost. Through the electronic publishing initiative, SAE International also began leveraging its capabilities in the new content management system. Upgrades to the system provide greater utility for customers, allowing for better collaboration and sharing of information with other subscribers. Application of a new taxonomy and additional search features make it easy and efficient to find relevant information. Examples of this include the launch of new technical paper collections geared for academic or research and development scientists. Also, SAE International will be able to offer a new range of potential new customers in global markets the ability to purchase an online library on a specific topic or technology. In 2010, SAE International published more than 2,150 technical papers and more than 600 standards. Included in these figures are 10 new online subscription and 1 new 14 technical paper collections. 17
