SAE Foundation
The SAE Foundation’s forward motion has constantly fuelled energy and excitement among teachers, volunteers and students since the Foundation’s inception 25 years ago. This same energy and excitement inform SAE’s outreach education programs that are helping to address the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education crisis in North Africa. Increased operating efficiency and program successes include the following. Financial Highlights •	 More	than	$1.45M	in	new	pledges	and	 contributions (a 19.7 percent increase over 2010) through increased giving from a number of different sectors/groups. In particular, funding increases have been seen from individuals, aerospace companies, and sectors not historically affiliated with the SAE Foundation. •	 The	Foundation	surpassed	its	commitment	 to keep the annual cost per dollar raised (CPDR) below $0.17 with a CPDR of $0.12, resulting in $0.88 of every dollar raised being used to directly support the Foundation’s education programs. •	 Increased	individual	giving	through	the	 Foundation’s annual fund exceeded its revenue goal by 20 percent for overall growth of 72 percent in this category since 2009.

•	 More	than	400	guests	attended	the	201 1	 Foundation Banquet in Detroit to celebrate and support the SAE Foundation’s proven science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education programs. The event raised more than $318,000. Scholarships and Awards More than $100,000 was awarded through the SAE Foundation’s scholarships, awards, and recognition programs. 17
