Sept. 25 * Visit Stout Grove and Jedediah Smith State Park.
Visit a coastal redwood plantation and see plantation
management, including fire mitigation.
Sept. 26 * Guided hike in old-growth mixed-conifer forest
at Oregon Caves National Monument. Discuss fire mitigation
with management. Tour of cross-laminated timber plant.
Sept. 27 * Meet National Park and US Forest Service
officials, and discuss management practices and
philosophies, and fire mitigation.
Sept. 28 * Tour sawmill and facility providing power to the
municipal grid. Attend OSU faculty seminar on research,
teaching, and extension programs. Visit with Starker Forests
representatives at their forest.
Sept. 29 * Tour World Forestry Center. See a presentation
by Oregon Forest Resources Institute on forest management
philosophies and current market utilization trends.
