Materials & Products Airtech Advanced Materials Group has introduced two new products. The NEW Airseal 2HT Vacuum Bag Sealant Tape. Airseal 2HT is a high tack vacuum bag sealant tape designed for commercial applications where cost is the primary consideration. Airseal 2HT provides vacuum integrity for vacuum bag applications up to 300°F (150°C) and 14.5 psi (1 bar) vacuum. Airseal 2HT sealant tape is used for more immediate surface adhesion in applications where a superior tack is required. Wrightlon® 3800 is a white matte finish Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) release film used as a barrier between tool surfaces and composite materials applied using automated tape layup and automated fiber placement equipment. The use of WL3800 allows the composite to be transferred to final cure tooling. In typical application WL3800 may remain with the composite through heat debulk cycles or forming operations. WL3800 should be removed prior to final cure or it will bond with the structure. For more information, visit: http://www.airtechonline.com/. ITT Corporation has announced it has developed a new lightweight composite connector developed specifically for the aerospace market. Suitable for both military and commercial aircraft, the new Mil-DTL 38999 Series III composite connector is engineered using advanced materials and techniques coupled with ITT’s 30 years of proven interconnect design experience. “Today’s military and commercial aerospace manufacturers are continually challenging themselves to reduce the weight and fuel usage of operational aircraft, and lightweight components can play a key role in their success,” said Bill Taylor, president of ITT’s Interconnect Solutions business. “Our new connector, which will be marketed under ITT’s Cannon brand, will offer end users a 30% weight reduction compared to its aluminum counterpart.” ITT designs and manufactures other highly engineered technologies for the aerospace industry, including valves, pumps and switches for fluid and environmental control systems and utility actuators that open and close exterior doors with improved fuel efficiency and reduced noise, as well as custom engineered components that minimize vibrations and noise, control overhead stowage bins, allow seats to recline and return to the upright position with the touch of a button, and contribute to in-flight entertainment systems. The new product utilized the company’s latest advanced blast mitigating technology, e-max™, to provide more protection for occupants inside of combat vehicles during blast events. The SKYDEX Convoy Deck Max represents an improved design from the company’s current Convoy Deck. The e-max technology 20 absorbs 127 percent more floor velocity than the current product compared to a bare floor, further improving survivability for vehicle occupants. In addition, Convoy Deck Max can be scaled to meet the threat level for the vehicle in which it will be installed. The product is available in 1.25-, 1.75- and 2.25-inch variants that absorb greater amounts of blast energy at each thickness. Higher thicknesses are appropriate for high-threat –level missions, while lower thicknesses are satisfactory for lesser threat levels. Convoy Deck Max utilizes a new surface that has improved traction and is inherently anti-fungal and is completely manufactured in the U.S. For more information, visit: www.skydex.com. Spirax Sarco is pleased to announce the release of the SP500 HART® electro-pneumatic digital positioner supporting HART® communication protocol. The HART® protocol comprises of a digital data transfer and communication over existing 4-20mA wiring, requiring no additional power supply or wiring to the positioner. Through the HART® protocol, the positioner can be configured and process parameters updated or modified remotely using a PC or handheld device. Embracing full flexibility and customization options, the positioner permits continuous condition monitoring, leveraging higher processing power to integrate the SP500 HART® and information about its adjacent control valve into data logging applications and advanced control strategies. The SP500 HART® can be simply integrated into a WirelessHART® by retrofitting the SP500 HART with a WirelessHART® adapter. As a simple to use, feature rich product, the SP500 HART® is also available with 4-20mA retransmission, software switches and the ability to be powered by an external 24V DC power supply. The SP500 HART® builds from its current SP400 and SP500 product range of removing installation, commissioning and user experience complexities to minimize any plant downtime and enable the full body of features to be utilized with ease. The non-contact valve position feedback system simplifies installation while improving reliability over traditional mechanical methods. For more information, visit: http://www.spiraxsarco.com/us. J.W. Winco, Inc., a leading supplier of standard industrial machine components, is now offering GN 612.8 Cam Action Indexing Plungers in metric sizes. These zinc die-cast indexing plungers are economically priced, and feature a special ZNDG-Pass nano® coating that offers excellent cor rosion resistance. They are RoHS compliant. The lever arm is technopolymer plastic (Polyamid PA), matte black, not removable, and the plunger pin is zinc plated, blue passivated steel. GN 618.2 cam action indexing plungers are used in applications when the pin must not always protrude. By rotating the lever arm through 180° the locking pin withdraws itself. The notch allows safe positioning. For more information, visit: www.jwwinco.com.
