has been shown that perforated joints
provide a similar tension strength
enhancement under dynamic loads
as they do under pseudo-static loads.
In addition, it has been found that the
dynamic strength of both perforated
and non-perforated joints is greater
than the static strength. Future work
is planned to investigate the origin
of the apparent increase in strength
of the joints under dynamic loading.
This will include investigating mode
II fracture toughness for GRP-GRP
and GRP-steel interfaces at a range
of loading rates along with FE
modelling of the hybrid joints under
dynamic tension loading.
