SAMPE announces that the recipient of the 2017 Lubin Award is Dr. Charles E. Browning.
The Lubin Award is named for George Lubin, an originator of reinforced plastics and pioneer in the development and implementation of advanced composites for primary structures had a long and distinguished career.
This award, SAMPE's highest honor, is given to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions
to the field of material and process engineering. Dr. Charles Browning is an internationally recognized expert
in his profession and in the advancement of advanced composite material technology. He is a major contributor to the United States national defense and its aerospace industry. His investments in composite processing,
thermoplastics, high temperature polyimides, and the Composites Affordability Initiative have provided the
Air Force significant warfighting capability. Dr. Browning will be honored at a special Award Ceremony on Monday evening,
September 11 at the Hyatt Regency Orlando. This event will take place during CAMX - The Composites and Advanced Materials
Expo - in Orlando, Florida September 11-14, 2017.

Solvay is proud to be part of a consortium partnership with Bentley and Penso, that
has been awarded a multi-million pound grant by the UK government Advanced
Propulsion Centre (APC) for the Flexible Lightweight Architecture for Volume Applications (FLAVA) automotive project. FLAVA will develop the composite design,
material and manufacturing technologies required to implement a modular, multimaterial Body-In-White structure suited for large production volume. The project,
through the manufacture of composite intensive vehicle prototypes, will demonstrate
the technical and commercial solutions required to meet emission legislation with design flexibility, structural integration, lightweighting, vehicle assembly and logistics
simplification. This will demonstrate the capability of a composite supply chain to
offer manufacturing processes that meet Automotive OEM quality, serial production
rate and total cost of ownership requirements in standard OEM production facilities.

Mikrosam, a globally recognized leader in innovative composite manufacturing

Mikrosam has invested in a composite manufacturing laboratory making it available
to customers for research, development and testing. With a commitment to continuous

Wabash MPI and Carver, Inc. will feature their standard and custom presses at CamX,
The Composites and Advanced Materials Expo in Orlando, FL from September 14th -
16th. Held at the Orange County Convention Center, Wabash and Carver will highlight
their composite molding presses for manufacturing and laboratory applications.
Wabash MPI also standard and custom hydraulic and
pneumatic presses for compression molding, vacuum molding,
ASTM testing, laboratory and R&D applications. Their transfer
presses offer precise molding of electrical components, medical
products and other applications.
Carver, Inc. offers two-column and four column benchtop,
manual and automatic hydraulic laboratory presses with
clamping capacities from 12 to 48 tons. Carver presses are
suited for various materials research, as well as pharmaceuticals,
analytical chemistry, lab testing, laminating and other
applications.
