that the copper foil showed little
negative effects on antenna bending
properties. Furthermore, the bending
strength of the silver ink printed
sample was 1847.7Mpa which was
significantly higher than that of the
copper pasted samples. The bending
fractured surface of the copper pasted
sample exhibited obvious matrix
cracks and the fibers were pulled out
from the matrix as shown in Figure
6b. That because the weak binding
between the copper foil, glass fabric
and the resin. In comparison, brittle
fracture was occurred in the silver
ink printed samples as shown in
Figure 6c implied that the matrix
and the fiber reinforcements were
bounded properly.

silver ink printed patch (SPRP) were
prepared for comparison. As shown
in Figure 5a, the sample with silver
ink printed radiation patch had the
highest tensile strength of 665Mpa
while the sample with copper pasted
radiation patch had the lowest
tensile strength of 605.3Mpa. it can
be seen in Figure 5b that the fibers
were pulled out from the matrix, and
the decrease of tensile strength of
the copper pasted sample possibility
due to the weak binding between
the copper foil, glass fabric and the
resin. A typical tensile fractured
surface is illustrated in Figure 5c, the
fibers in silver ink printed sample
showed well combinations with the
matrix which resulted in the good
performances in tensile test.
Bending Properties
Figure 6a showed the bending
strength of the three samples. The
bending strength of copper pasted
sample was 1548.7MPa which was
only 1.3% lower than the bending
strength of the sample with no
radiation patch. That demonstrated

Conclusions
In this study, a screen printed
broadband
microstrip
antenna
operating at frequency band from
1.521 to 1.616 GHz was designed and
the radiation patch of the antenna
was fabricated by silver ink for
better patch-substrate combination.
