Already, Texas' first AVEDA Institute and the Center for Foods of the Americas (a culinary school associated with the Culinary Institute of America) are in the same renovated area as the Stable. Plans are underway to add shops, dining and extend San Antonio's famous River Walk into the 22-acre complex and turn it into one of the city's premier entertainment and business districts. Pearl Stable was designed and built in 1894. Once home to Pearl Brewery’s hard-working draft horses in the late 19th Century, today Pearl Stable provides a uniquely elegant site for business events and social occasions. Pearl Stable is a restored area of the old Pearl Brewery just north of downtown San Antonio, renovated to provide a state-of-the-art meeting site with the flair and fashion of the old brewery. Up to 500 people can meet in the flexible 5,525 sq. ft. space, taking in the late 19th-century structure's makeover. The Stable is already kicking up business. Planners are attracted to the convenience, Texaschic feel of the restored stable and the outdoor areas, which can be used to accommodate larger meetings. There is even an authentic Pearl Beer 1907 locomotive to add historic touches to the site. Even after closing in 2001, after over a hundred years in operation, the Pearl Brewery is still a San Antonio institution.
