Here are some of the properties coming soon: • Downtown: The Alamo Plaza Hotel (91 Rooms); Grand Hyatt San Antonio – Opening February 2008 (1,000 Rooms); Hotel Indigo – Opening April 2008 (91 Rooms). • Around town: Cambria Suites (120 Rooms); Courtyard by Marriott, St. Mary’s St. (220 Rooms); Courtyard by Marriott, Sonterra Blvd. – Opening November 2007 (119 Rooms); Hotel Talavera Opening Late 2009 (152 Rooms); JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa - Opening March 2010 (1,000 Rooms); Drury IH10 & 1604 – Opening 2008. Around Town Spectacular events are coming up. • February – The annual San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo rides into town for 17 days of rodeo performances and great entertainment with rock ‘n’ roll, country and Latin music concerts. • March – The Alamo City celebrates St. Patrick’s Day with an Irish Festival at La Villita (San Antonio’s original neighborhood, now a cultural arts village), golf tournament and annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade—we even dye the San Antonio River green! • April – Fiesta! San Antonio is the event San Antonio is known for, with 10 days of parades, carnivals, balls, art fairs, concerts and amazing food—all set amidst a historic city with old world charm and a new world blend of cultures. On April 5th and 7th, the Final Four teams remaining in the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament will meet at San Antonio’s Alamodome to contend for a shot at the National Championship game. In this new role, Madison will manage nine account managers with the goal of driving non-convention center sales for regional and national associations and corporations. Additionally, she will still pursue city-wide convention sales for the African American market. • Suzie Bacon has moved from the role of Non-convention Center Sales for Texas and the Southeast to National Convention Sales Manager. In her new position, she will work with groups from Illinois and Wisconsin that require use of the convention center. • New to the CVB, Troy Love will handle groups from the Midwest other than Illinois and Wisconsin, requiring use of the convention center. • Also new to the CVB, Tanya Espalin will focus on groups from the Midwest U.S. in need of 200 or more room nights that will not require use of the convention center. • Robin Schmerber will specialize in groups from Texas and the Southeast needing more than 200 rooms, that will not utilize the convention center.
