He attempts to overcome the transitory nature of time and reduce the significance of chronology by focusing on the “timeless” character of his art. By deconstructing the object’s material context, Kohlem sculptures become relics of our technological age. 9 Jack Dowd, USA < HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDY Jack Dowd is an artist living and working in Sarasota. Focused primarily on social mores and stereotypes, Dowd primarily creates figurative work that emphasizes the sculpture’s portrayed character above all else. 10 James Brenner, USA < CROSS ROADS James Brenner is a Chicago-based sculptor and Director of Chicago Sculpture Works. Brenner creates fundamentally formal sculpture using variations of steel, bronze, iron, glass and neon. 11 Jean-Francois Buisson, France < LA DIVINE PROPORTION Jean-Francois Buisson has had a multi-faceted career that includes television, film, media and design. Currently residing in Bordeaux, France, Buisson now works primarily with iron, constructing intricate and ornate work that humanity’s mechanized adaptation to the technological world apprehending us. 12 Jerolyn Bahm-Colombik, USA < THE MUSIC BOX Jerolyn Bahm-Colombik’s works are noted for their careful observance of people all over the world.
