Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, sunscreen, kids and dogs, and find out why over 5,000 people every year think it’s hip to be square, when the square is a “block party” that makes a difference. In 1996, the desire to provide those less fortunate with the most basic of human needs—food—gave birth to “Giving Hunger The Blues.” The festival, which takes place outdoors, has become the most widely attended fundraiser in the county and has raised over half a million dollars to fight hunger and protect our children. Local musicians, bands, performers and artists donate their talents and time with all money raised staying within the county for those in need. There are restaurants with food and beverages along with games and activities for the whole family. There will be a live band on two stages (one for youth), dance demos, martial arts displays, a Guitar Hero® competition, and a huge raffle with amazing prizes. As the major fundraiser for All Faiths Food Bank, this year “Giving Hunger The Blues” has formed an alliance with two other non-profit organizations, who will receive a portion of the proceeds. To fulfill the mission to feed, nurture and protect the children of our community, the alliance includes three organizations: Sarasota All Faiths Food Bank, The Wellness Community of Southwest Florida and PAL Sailor Circus, to feed our children. 72 : : arts and culture magazine www.artsandculturemag.com www.artsandculturemag.com http://www.theplayers.org http://www.floridastudiotheatre.org http://www.floridastudiotheatre.org http://www.floridastudiotheatre.org http://www.givinghungertheblues.org http://givinghungertheblues.org http://www.floridastudiotheatre.org http://www.floridastudiotheatre.org http://www.theplayers.org http://www.artsandculturemag.comwww.artsandculturemag.com
