International Railway Journal - August 2007 - (Page 46) Showcase Sensorex manufactures acceleration, tilt and displacement sensors for severe environments and where only the highest reliability is acceptable. Our proven expertise in the aerospace industry has led us to develop sensors especially dedicated to railway applications, where the same high standards of quality are mandatory. The outstanding performance of these sensors makes them ideal for use in ATC (Automatic Train Control) and ERTMS (European Rail Traffic Management Systems) as well as for railway maintenance and monitoring. www.sensorex.fr sensorex@sensorex.fr www.vaisala.com/rail Simulator for Rail Traffic – SST The objective of the Rail Vehicle Simulator, SST, is to function as a simulation foundation for several rail applications. The following areas have been identified as feasible applications for simulation: fundamental behavioural research education and training of train drivers evaluation and adaptation of technical implementations development and use of new technoloy investigations and projecting. It is possible to configure the SST software as an independent PC-simulator but also as an advanced simulator with cabin, instrumentation, sound system and motion platform etc. The software itself is developed as on Open Source Code, based on C++ and XML. www.vti.se/SSTeng information@vti.se REMOTE CONTROL Our focus is locomotive radio remote control equipment encompassing the needs of railroads to increase productivity and maximize locomotive usage. The equipment meets stringent safety integrity levels and provides versatility in applications from portable remote control to automated train loading. With 20 years of railway experience with long train operation, modern braking systems and microprocessor controlled locomotives, our knowledge is comprehensive in this field. The equipment is extremely accurate and is a very efficient tool to reduce maintenance costs. Main applications are maintenance, quality control and wheel/rail contact studies. MiniProf is now also available as a PDA version, which makes the system even more user-friendly. www.greenwood.dk miniprof@greenwood.dk Mobile wheel profile laser measuring system The mobile wheel profile laser measuring system is used for the acquisition of wheel profile data on a stationary vehicle. Easy fixing to the inside reference surface of the wheel is achieved using permanent magnets. With the calculation software all parameters necessary for profile wear evaluation of each wheel is determined and displayed. Additionally, measurement of wheel roundness can be made in conjunction with the "Windhoff" wheel lift and rotation unit.
