Marine Log - February 2009 - (Page 10) Update CTC Marine Projects gets contract from Egypt Trico Marine Services, Inc. trenching and installation division, CTC Marine Projects, has been awarded a $20 million contract for the North Bardawil Project offshore Egypt for Petrobel which is scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2009. The project will utilize the 107 m MPSV Volantis. The Volantis has a 2,100 kW UT1 'Ultra Trencher' jet trenching system, a 2,000 ton carousel reel for deployment of flexible pipeline and umbilical, a 150 ton heave compensated crane for deepwater construction and the WROV Installer 1 from Trico's DeepOcean Division. INLAND • COASTAL • OFFSHORE • DEEPSEA Sea-Cargo orders four LNG RO/RO Vessels orway-based shipping group Sea-Cargo placed an order for four multipurpose RO/RO vessels that will be fitted with an LNG propulsion package. Measuring 132.8 m long, the new vessels will be built by India’s Bharati Shipyard Ltd., with delivery expected later this year and 2010 with an option for four more. The LNG vessels will result in a reduction of CO2, NOx, SOx and particulates neglible. Rolls-Royce will supply its Bergen B35:40 V12 N PG as the main engines on each of the vessels. In addition, Rolls-Royce will be supplying all major equipment and system elements. The vessels will be able to carry 5,600 tonnes in cargo and will have a 1,150 lane meters of ro/ro capacity. They also feature a 50-ton container crane. Sea-Cargo has stated that LNG will be its fuel of choice in the future. The company is looking to reduce emissions from its short sea and coastal vessels. BIW lays off employees General Dynamics Bath Iron Works (BIW), Bath, Maine, laid off 179 of its employees last month.
