The vessels will each be fitted with ABB’s complete electronic propulsion system, including generators, switchgears, transformers, drives and motors. The electric propulsion systems are equipped with variable speed drives. The variable speeds reduce the emissions of the OSV’s and maximize fuel efficiency. The equipment is expected to be delivered in 2010 and 2011.
