Marine Log - February 2009 - (Page 33) EXHIBITORS PREVIEW Seatrade Cruise Shipping 2009 In these tough economic times, cruise travel offers vacationers an excellent value. And this year, thanks to investments of some $4.8 billion by cruise lines, they will have 14 new vessels to choose from, including the world’s largest, the 5,400-passenger Oasis of the Seas. The design of these new ships have pushed the boundaries of imagination and will be the center of discussion among executives at the Seatrade Cruise Shipping conference, which will be held March 1619, 2009 in Miami. Much of the technology used in these ships will be on display at the accompanying exhibition. Here’s a brief preview of some of the companies that you will find on the exhibit floor. Royal Carribean’s Oasis of the Seas is the largest cruise ship ever constructed. The 16 deck vessel features seven “neighborhoods” including a boardwalk with carousel, sport zones and its own Central Park www.marinelog.com February 2009 MARINE LOG 33 http://www.marinelog.com
