INLAND • COASTAL • OFFSHORE • DEEPSEA Seacor’s new speedy cat eacor Marine’s new 170 ft twinhull crewboat is aptly named the Seacor Cheetah. The first CrewZer Class vessel, the Seacor Cheetah is capable of a top speed in excess of 40-knots—more than twice that of conventional crewboats. Its maximum speed is 42 knots. Designed by Australia’s IncatCrowther and built at Gulf Craft, Inc., Patterson, La., the Seacor Cheetah has an overall length of 170 ft, beam of 38 ft and loaded draft of 7 ft. Propulsion is supplied by four MTU 16V 4000 M71 diesel engines drive Hamilton waterjets via Twin Disc gears. What is impressive about the Sea- knots 42 12,000 S cor Cheetah is its clear deck area of 2,780 ft2 and ability to carry up to 150 metric tons of deck cargo, along with 150 passengers in comfort. Seacor Marine says that its DP-2 rating, combined with its wide, stable work deck allows the vessel to hold station in weather conditions where other vessels simply could not work. The catamaran is described by Seacor Marine as a “powerful logistics tool that allows logistics managers to establish efficient loop-style routes between high-traffic platforms and shore-based operations.” See video, specs and more at www.seacormarine.com/crewzer. 10 MARINE LOG MARCH 2008 www.marinelog.com http://www.seacormarine.com/crewzer http://www.worldwidemetric.com http://www.worldwidemetric.com http://www.marinelog.com
