Marine Log - April 2008 - (Page 13) Bisso Marine adds more muscle to fleet Bisso Marine, Houston, Tex., recently introduced the ABS classed A-1 Maltese cross anchor handling tug William Bisso. Bisso purchased the tug from Harvey Gulf International. Named for the son of the company’s president and COO, W.A. Bisso V, the tug measures 115 ft x 32 ft with an operational draft of 14 ft. The 52 bollard pull tug is supplied by a pair of EMD 16-645 E2 main engines turning 108 in. propellers in kort nozzles through 4:1 Reintjes gears. regarding which shipyard will perform the conversion, the project is expected to be completed by mid-June 2008. Both the William Bisso and DSV Bisso Diver I will be used to aid in Bisso’s offshore construction, pipeline and salvage projects. Conversion to diving vessel The anchor handling tug William Bisso CONVERSION WORK Bisso also announced the purchase of the OSV Dino Chouset from Edison Chouest Offshore (ECO). The vessel will be converted into a diving support vessel and renamed Bisso Diver I . Measuring 196 ft x 44 ft x 14 ft, the vessel is powered by two Cat 3516 main engines generating 4,070 hp with a cruising speed of 14 knots. It is also equipped with a White Gill DP system and (2) 10,000 gpm fire fighting monitors. The dive support vessel will be able to accommodate 48 and is equipped with a Techcrane 60 with a 56 to 100 ft retractable boom and a four point station keeping system from two drum Amcon 385 winches. The vessel will be fitted with a permanent winch foundation that can accommodate a series of winches with up to 200,000 lbs of capacity to facilitate subsea lowering or rigging via the anchor handling stern roller. The naval architecture and marine engineering firm Alan C. McClure, Associates, Inc., of Houston, Texas, has been contracted to assist Bisso Marine management in the planning and engineering of the conversion.
