McCall will have three independent rudders W hile its new Cheetah Class catamaran crewboats have been a great success, Seacor Marine continues to build conventional monohulls. Gulf Craft, Inc., Patterson, La., which built the Seacor Cheetah, is currently constructing the 190 ft aluminum monohull Alice G. McCall. Gulf Craft plans to deliver the 190 ft x 34 ft boat this August. It will build two more conventional vessels for delivery in 2009 and 2010. The vessel contains a total of ten Cummins engines. Propulsion for the Alice G. McCall will be supplied by five 1,800 hp Cummins KTA50M2 main engines with Twin Disc MG-6848 reduction gears (2.93:1 ratio) that turn fourblade 54 inch x 53-inch Nibral propellers via five-inch shafts. The boat’s Thrustmaster azimuthing bow thruster will be powered by a Cummins QSM11 engine. Cummins QSM11 engines will each drive the two tunnel bow thrusters. The vessel’s two 135 kW gensets will each be powered by Cummins 6 CTA engines as will the bulk compressor drive. The vessel’s maximum speed will be 26 knots at 1,900 rev/min, with fuel consumption at 420 gal per hour. Cruising speed will be 23 knots at 1,800 rev/min and a fuel consumption of 310 gal per hour. At the economy speed of 20 knots and 1,600 rev/min fuel consumption drops to 260 gallons per hour. ML Keppel delivers third jack up rig to Scorpion Keppel AmFELS Inc., Brownsville, Tex., a U.S. wholly owned subsidiary of Keppel O&M, has delivered its third jack up drilling rig, the Offshore Resolute, for Bermuda-based Scorpion Offshore.
