An additional maximum sum of EURO 38 million is to be paid based on the performance of the business over the next three years. Vik-Sandvik specializes in the design of high end offshore vessels—like the Normand Seven pictured below, in addition to product and chemical tankers and specialized vessels. The acquisition serves as a step for Wärtsilä to strengthen its position as a total solutions provider—by combining Vik-Sandvik’s ship design capability and Wärtsilä’s own exisiting offerings in propulsion systems and automation. Vik-Sandvik will be integrated into Wärtsilä Ship Design within Ship Power.
