Marine Log - October 2008 - (Page 8) Update Aker Solutions receives $235 million contract from Daewoo Aker Solutions has been awarded two contracts worth $235 million from Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Co. The contracts are for drilling equipment for two ultra deepwater drillships scheduled for delivery in the second and fourth quarters of 2011. Under the contract, subsidiary Aker MH AS will deliver complete drilling equipment packages consisting of engineering, equipment deliveries and commissioning services. INLAND • COASTAL • OFFSHORE • DEEPSEA MSC orders two new ships for its Musica Class SC Crociere will increase its fleet to 14 with the additon of two new Musica Class ships, the MSC Meraviglia and the MSC Favolosa. The two additions increase MSC’s M investment to EURO 5.5 billion ($8 billion) between 2003 and 2009 for the construction of 10 new generation ships. The two will be the fifth and sixth sisters ships in MSC’s Musica Stealth places order for crude oil tankers Stealth Gas Inc., Athens, Greece, has placed an order for two new 156,000 dwt Suezmax crude oil tankers with an option to order two more in the near future. In addition, the company is set to aquire a fourth new resale 50,500 dwt MR Type product carriers set to be delivered in November 2009. Class. Each will be able to carry a maximum of 3,013 passengers and will feature 1,275 staterooms. The 14 ship fleet is expected to carry over 1,400,000 passengers by 2012. MSC claims to have the most modern fleet in the world with most of its ships being built within the last five years.
