Marine Log - November 2007 - (Page 12) Update Dubai World looks to acquire Labroy Dubai World's Drydocks World last month made a voluntary conditional cash offer for Labroy Marine Limited of Singapore. The offer would involve a potential cash outlay of about $1.63 billion for an acquisition of all Labroy’s shares on a fully diluted basis. Labroy, incorporated in Singapore and listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange, is a marine construction and engineering group with core businesses in shipbuilding, ship repair, offshore rig construction and shipping. It has two full-service shipyards in Batam, Indonesia and a large and diversified fleet of vessels, including 70 tugs and 100 barges. Drydocks World has received irrevocable undertakings from substantial shareholders of Labroy to accept its offer to acquire about 65.49%. of all the shares in Labroy. INLAND • COASTAL • OFFSHORE • DEEPSEA New PCTC for Grimaldi he Grimadi Group, Naples, Italy, recently took delivery of the Pure Car and Truck Carrier (PCTC) Grande Colonia from Uljanik Shipyards, Pula, Croatia. The ship is one of more than 30 that Grimaldi has ordered from shipyards in Croatia, Italy and Korea as part of a EURO 2 billion plus fleet expansion. That expansion will include a series of four 8,500-ton cruise ferries, the Mediterranean’s largest, ordered from Italy’s Fincantieri. The first in the series, the 225m Cruise Roma, is due for delivery in 2008. The new PCTC is named in honor of T The 38,650 gt Pure Car Truck Carrier Grande Colonia $1.63b offer Koeln, a city that has longstanding commercial ties to the Grimaldi Group. The city serves as the European and German headquarters of Ford Motor Co., one of the group’s major customers. With a length of 176m and beam of 31.1m, the 38,650 gt Grande Colonia can transport up to 4,300 cars at speeds of 20 knots. The Grande Colonia has excellent loading flexibility that allows it to carry and transport rolling cargo of any length and weight. Equipped with 11 decks, three of which are hoistable up to about 5m height, the Grande Colonia can load trucks, tractors, twin-deck tourist buses, train wagons and excavators.
