Marine Log - December 2008 - (Page 10) Update BHGI wins two design contracts Rhode Island-based, Bristol Harbor Group (BHGI) has been awarded two design jobs from two Puerto Ricobased clients. The first design contract comes from the Harbor Bunkering Corporation, San Juan, P.R., for a 30,000 bbl barge. The new barge will be based on the 2004 design BHGI did for Harbor Bunkering’s Enterprise. The second contract is for a 4,300 bhp Z-drive tug for South Puerto Rico Towing, Guayanilla, P.R. The vessel is intended to be used primarily as a ship docking vessel but will be capable of towing with a winch and pin system. INLAND • COASTAL • OFFSHORE • DEEPSEA ST Marine wins contract to convert Bluestone Topaz S ingapore Technologies Marine Ltd. (ST Marine) has been awarded a $3 million contract from Bluestone Offshore Pte. Ltd. Bluestone Offshore specializes in deepwater geotechnical analysis. ST Marine will convert the Remotely Operated Vessel (ROV) support vessel Bluestone Topaz into a geotechnical survey vessel. The 2,180 dwt vessel measures 72 m long and has a depth of 6.5 m. The retrofit will include the construction of a new moonpool as well as the fabrication and installation of a new mezzanne deck, tween deck and platform. The upgrade of the Bluestone Topaz’ will include a derrick system capable of operating in water depths of up to 1,800 m, making it suit- able for major offshore locations.
