Emirates Star is an advanced 51K tanker with seven cargo segregations designed with a wide web frame space (3,600 mm). The cargo space is divided into seven pairs of tanks, and the center and transverse bulkheads on stools are corrugated, no structural obstacles inside the EMIRATES STAR at-a-glance Length OA Breadth molded Depth molded to main Draft, design: Deadweight, design 183.00 m 32.20 m 19.10 m 11.00 m 50,301 t cargo tanks. With side stiffening included in the double hull space, and deck beams arranged externally on top of the cambered deck, the tanks present a flush internal surface. The STX MAN B&W 6S50MC-C Mk 7 main engine develops 12,900 BHP full power at 127 rev/min and at an NCR (85% MCR) of 10,960 BHP x 120.3 rev/min turns an STX-designed FP propeller for a service speed of 15.2 knots. The double-hull has wide side tanks utilized for water ballast and contains seven pairs of pure epoxy coated cargo tanks with plan type longitudinal/transverse bulkheads, built-in inner side stiffeners and vertical webs. Six pairs of water ballast tanks are served by two 2,000 m3/h pumps in an independent pump room. Main propulsion power is by an STXMAN B&W 6S60MC-C(MK8) developing 19,380 bhp full power at 109 rev/min at full load condition and well matched with a shipyard-designed propeller to give a service speed of 14.9 knots at 85% mcr.
