Swire Pacific Offshore will provide the vessel’s basic design and major equipment, including the seismic survey equipment. Construction is expected to begin in May 2009, with delivery in the second half of 2010. Propulsion power for the 68m x 15m seismic survey vessel will be supplied by two 2,880 kW medium-speed diesels. The vessel will be designed, constructed, completed and delivered in compliance with the rules, regulations and with all requirements of and under the survey of American Bureau of Shipping, with the ABS Class +A1, +AMS, ACCU, SPS, E, Ice Class Notation C. ML Swift Rescue will be the Republic of Singapore Navy’s first Submarine Support and Rescue Vessel ST MARINE LAUNCHES FIRST SSRV FOR SINGAPORE NAVY In Singapore, Singapore Technologies Marine Ltd, the marine arm of ST Engineering, recently launched the 85m Swift Rescue, a sophisticated Submarine Support and Rescue Vessel (SSRV) for the Republic of Singapore Navy. The first such vessel of its kind for the Singapore Navy, the Swift Rescue has an overall length of 85m and beam of 18m. It is equipped with a DPS-2 dynamic positioning system, has a helicopter deck and will house a highly sophisticated Submarine Rescue Vessel (SRV) to rescue personnel from a submarine in distress up to a depth of 500m. An A-Frame aft will assist in launching the SRV. This past June, ST Marine formed First Response Marine Pte. Ltd., a 50-50 joint venture with the U.K.’s James Fisher Defence Limited. The joint venture will handle the S$400 million contract awarded to ST Marine by the Singapore Navy (RSN) for the provision of a ship and submarine rescue system and maintenance services. The 20-year services contract is expected to start in the first half of 2009, when the SSRV and SRV have been completed and integrated into a submarine rescue system.
