CSXT 2009 M/W Numbers About $1.75 million total capital. Ties: 3.3 million new wood. 22,360 concrete. This year, CPR plans to surface 2,334 miles of track, up from 2,140 in 2008. The biggest single bridge project involves work on the bridge over the Assiniboine River at Milepost 131.34 on the Carberry Subdivision in Manitoba. CSX Transportation At a recent conference, Michael Ward, CSX Transportation chairman, president and ceo, said, “At CSX, we will spend $1.75 billion in 2008 on maintaining our 23-state network, expanding terminal and track capacity and investing in new, fuel-efficient locomotives. We will spend $5 billion between 2008 and 2010 to help meet more of those critical needs. This additional rail capacity promotes even more energy UP’s Boone High Bridge takes shape alongside the Kate Shelley Bridge on the former C&NW main line across Iowa. MRL plans to install 5,000 net tons of new rail and 500 net tons of relay rail. In 2008, the railroad put in 5,000 miles of efficiency and environmental gains. We intend to spend on a similar basis to what we did in 2008.” All gangs—rail, tie, etc.‚—are scheduled to start work this month.
