Burkhardt Chair in Railway Management and is currently seeking an individual to fill that role. The university notes that the Burkhardt Chair provides an opportunity to lead the development of an interdisciplinary and cross-college initiative in Railway Management and Transportation Studies. The goal of the initiative is to establish a world-class research and education program. City and St. Louis. Crews have replaced 325,600 ties, spread 400,000 tons of rock ballast and replaced the surfaces in 334 road crossings. These improvements are part of the more than $1 billion Union Pacific is planning to spend in 2008 to maintain its track across its more than 32,300mile system. Also, UP is building a new 11,000square-foot yard office and crewchange facility in Marysville, Kan. The new facility will include offices, conference room, communications office, crew computer room, control operators, simulator room, circulation, supply room, signal shop, storage shop and various other rooms for operation and employee convenience. The facility should be completed within six to seven months after construction begins, which is scheduled for March. the Dulles Toll Road in northern Virginia. These relocations are necessary prior to starting the construction of the rail project. Utility work has started with Washington Gas Company working in the service road south of Leesburg Pike in front of Business Bank and moving east towards Route 123. The utility relocations are part of the Route 7 enhancement along the future rail project alignment. Additional project improvements include: utilities to be moved underground; sidewalks added on both sides; Route 7 widened to four lanes in each direction; dual left turns at Tyco, Spring Hill and Gosnell/West Park intersections; and pedestrian bridges across Route 7 and 123. Additional utility relocations for phones, fiber, electric, water, sewer and sanitary drainage lines will follow the relocations and are expected to take about two years. The project extends the existing Metrorail service from the East Falls Church Station on the Orange Line in Fairfax County through Tysons Corner to Washington Dulles International Airport and beyond the airport to Route Lucin Rail Cutoff under construction, courtesy of Salt Lake City Chamber of Commerce. UP upgrading track near Jefferson City, Mo. Union Pacific will spend $1.5 million this year on track improvements between Bonnots Mill, Mo., and Jefferson City. When the project is complete, crews will have removed and installed 5,500 ties and spread 13,100 tons of rock ballast. Work began on this project January 9 and is scheduled to be completed by mid-February.
