This will boost productivity when welding both new and relay rail. Our customers want to get their welded rail trains loaded as quickly as possible, and Chemetron is constantly working on ways to improve welding productivity and minimize the time welded rail trains have to spend at the welding plant. “Chemetron has dedicated additional equipment to the growing transit and shortline business sectors, with an emphasis on both on-site and in-track welding,” he noted. “We expect to see continued growth in the rail welding business sector,” McLean said. “Traffic is higher at Class 1s, transits and shortlines, which has increased the demand for rail welding services in North America. We are also seeing very strong international interest in our services and equipment.” Applied Ultrasonics uses ultrasonic energy to improve the fatigue performance of a range of metals, including the fatigue life of thermite welds.
